However, i am looking for either the kx500 kick starter guide (kawasaki 13206 1003) or the actual klr650 kickstarter guide (13206 1051). i think this belongs in the marketplace section.

Understanding How Kickstarter Works Samit Patel Howdy, i am seriously looking for a kickstarter kit (part no. 99995 1007) to buy. originally available as an optional part for the 1987's, they are hard to come by but still out there somewhere. i have the pre 96 clutch basket and the earlier transmission that is required for my later year bike. Then the kickstarter from a kz1000, brand new from uk, not original (around 50 60€, but came to 96€ with shipping and customs). and lastly primary gear (34€), but it included a lot of nice bits and pieces: water pump gear, idler gear, clutch basket nut and washer, some sort of metal bushings that i’m not familiar with. A kickstarter is an mechanical fail safe. it's for the imperfect, less predictable world, where such things keep the prepared on the right side of that unforgiving line. a world where others will end up on foot. installing a kickstarter on a klr650 remains a noble goal. anyone fulfilling the ambition has my respect. ain't proud of it, but . . . Tried the kickstarter and it worked as it should, with the engine having plenty of compression. i went through the gears and they all engage, i also rocked it back and forward in 5th gear, the engine turned over and the engine seems to have plenty of compression. any ideas ? starter motor is new from when the engine was over hauled a few years ago.

I put a kickstarter on my 89 650 for under $200 using klr 600 parts found on ebay. later model klr's need more parts to get the job done, possibly including the old style clutch basket. if the case on your klr is a solid casting where the kick lever shaft would stick out, you would need an older style side cover. I think kawasaki discontinued the kickstarter kit long before they deleted the plug . . . after all, as you mentioned, a pre 1996 clutch basket is required. further, my 2007 klr650 has a hole in the case for the kickstarter shaft (although, as mentioned, kickstarter kits were long discontinued, the case design remained unchanged); was this. I just scored a kickstarter assembly off a 600 which included everything except the seal and the kickstart lever for a whopping $50. is there any other lever that fits or does it have to bee off a 600 klr?. Hello klr community, today my klr 250 broke down and is having some starting issues. earlier today i went for a small drive, the klr was starting and running fine like always after around 20min into my trip i had to take a left on a steep hill and after shifting down she suddenly died on me.
