Adventist Aged Care Ltd Humane World For Animals To test the effectiveness of a 28‐week group‐walking intervention for person with dementia. participants were accompanied by trained volunteers. Walk the talk for dementia is a 4 day walk covering 40 km of the camino de santiago where participants will connect with different people, explore topics related to their challenges in dementia, and foster diverse perspectives to reshape ideas and behaviours both professionally and personally. People with dementia have walked alongside researchers, advocates, entrepreneurs, community organizers, and clinicians. we now have two days of talks and presentations, with each person sharing their work and consolidating the conversations started on the walk. Increasing your steps by even a little bit may help slow down the progression of alzheimer’s disease among people at heightened risk, according to a new study.

This early phase study aimed to establish proof of concept by evaluating whether an intervention that integrates light intensity walking with mindfulness practices shows promising signs of improving cognition in older adults. Walking interventions improved executive function (n = 6) and memory (n = 3). these studies delivered the intervention individually (n = 3) for at least 40 minutes (n = 6) each time, three times per week (n = 8), between 6 to 26 weeks (n = 8), and walking at a moderate to vigorous intensity (n = 7). After a seven year follow up period, the researchers discovered that a higher number of steps per day was associated with a lower risk of dementia. they also discovered that speed matters. The survey highlighted significant improvements in participants’ understanding of dementia, increased empathy toward people living with dementia and care partners, and a greater willing ness to advocate for dementia friendly policies.
