Within this report, the use of vegetable oil based cutting fluids in machining different engineering materials is described in depth and their applications as a substitute to mineral based oil are outlined. The present work experimentally tests the applicability of the vegetable oil based nanofluids in machining of aisi 1040 steel under mql and evaluates the carbon footprint of the process to study the sustainability of the fluids. Meanwhile, the researchers were initiated to develop nano bio degradable machining fluid by incorporating the right nanomaterials to enhance the performance of the vegetable based.
