The live album "shadows and light" boasts an incredibly talented band, overflowing with skill, with the amazing jaco pastorius, pat metheny, lyle mays, don alias, and michael brecker.

Nine tonight from bob seger seems to be ridiculously overlooked, as live bullet shines like a diamond in the rough, and was one of the reasons live albums got so popular. I like to play certain albums to friends who might not be familiar with the music, or i this case, the album’s less than stellar reputation. on a recent road trip to philadelphia, i played “extra texture” for a friend who liked the beatles, but wasn’t particularly knowledgeable of the solo records.
