Mostly correct except that the target of a sneak attack won't need to search for the attackers even in the case of a suppressed weapon. they know where the shot came from.

Sneak attack lowers the difficulty by 1 and adds vicious to the the attack. if the weapon is already vicious then it adds 2cd damage. i rule that unless a group of characters is deliberately spread out one person attacking means the enemies are aware of the group. So my players recently started talking about sneak attack. they claim it gives them more damage yet i can’t seem to find sneak attack in the book. Enemies can use a major action to search for a hidden character, which has a base difficulty of 2. this allows players who want to play a stealthy hitman ninja etc to do and remains balanced without sacrificing their ability to sneak around, especially if they have a suppressed weapon.

You don't get automatic critical hits from sneak attack. all you get is no ap to ac or whatever allowing for a more accurate eye shot and not drawing the aggro of the entire area. In fallout and fallout 2, one cannot run and sneak at the same time without the silent running perk. how close one can sneak to a target before detected depends on a combination of several factors: target's perception statistic. sneaking character's sneak skill. the facing of the target. That is how i see this iteration of the 2d20 mechanics. what that means is that when a combat starts, with one side being unaware of the opposing side, it is up to roleplay and the sneak attack mechanic to arbitrate the outcomes. Upon a sneaking character's attack, non suppressed weapons such as firearms immediately alert enemies of the character's presence. if any other pcs have not attacked, they remain undetected until they make some sort of noise or attack that reveals them.
