Yes, with the new version of photoshop, i can edit vector smart objects in illustrator (even in the old version of illustrator). the issue seems to come from photoshop 20.0.6 with monterey. Since the new updates to 2020, my photoshop can't edit the smart objects (vectors from illustrator). the message is : " could not edit original smart object because the app which created the smart object couldn't be launched". When i drag, or copy and paste, an illustrator vector into photoshop it is scalable and behaves like a vector should. in the past if i want to edit that object in illustrator, e.g. change the colours, i double click the layer and it opens up by itself in illustrator.

Sorry that you're getting an error while opening a vector smart object from photoshop to illustrator. which version of photoshop are you using and what is the error message you're getting?. Adobe cc 2019 photoshop will not open vector smart objects into adobe illustrator to edit by double clicking the smart object. instead, it is opening this dialog window and opening the file as a raster image in a new photoshop window. I'm having a bit of a problem, apparently when i double click any vector smart object in ps, any illustrator file that is, i get this message "the application adobe illustrator 2022.app can't be opened.". Though photoshop does not support editing ai file photoshop can import ai file as a raster pixel layer. i believe that is what place does creating ai vector smart objects. it imports the ai file a as a correctly sized pixel layer. that transforming a vector smart object just re imports the file sized differently.
