Rendering Object In Rendered Mode Is Different From Material Preview So, my problem is, that in a scene, cycles renders one material different than it looks in the preview and i have no idea what i am missing or doing wrong. it is a simple procedural texture for a lab desk. (see the attached material setup) material setup in the preview, it looks like this:. A render only lights your scene based on the lighting you've actually placed yourself. the main issue here is the material preview has a hdri background and your actual scene doesn't. For some reason when in material preview it displays the texture perfectly how i want it but in the render preview it only shows a solid colour, i tested unlinking the texture node to the principle bsdf node and the colour changes in render mode. If you've setup all your materials in material preview viewport shading mode, then by default, your world properties and lighting won't match your final render. material preview viewport shading mode means you have "fake" lighting from an exr hdri that it uses purely for basic previewing.
