Modern usage today, the term “nereid” has largely fallen out of use. when nereids are referenced, they are poorly distinguished from other nymphs and fairy like creatures. in honor of the ancient greek mythology, one of the moons that orbits neptune (a planet named for neptunus or posedion) is named nereid. Norse mythology tells of a similar ghostly double which is said to perform the actions of a person just before they do. the spirit will often smell or sound like, or have the same voice as, the original person. In the ancient cultures, a demon didn’t always have an evil connotation. they were simply beings of spiritual nature, non mortals. however as religion evolved so too did the demons. the bible refers to them as fallen angels. spirit rebels against god that have the ability to take possession of a physical body.
