Inventor S Save Copy As Is Not Automatically Opening The New File Inventor's save copy as is not automatically opening the new file. this is not the intended use of the save copy as command. Any clue as to why the save command just absolutely will not work? oh yeah, save worked fine on all the other parts and sub assemblies he had open at the same time as the one that wouldn't save.

"save copy as" saves the document under a new name, but the original stays open for editing, not the new one. If you want to save the document with a new file name and make it appear so in the user interface as well, just like in case of inventor menu >> save as >> save as, then you need to create a copy of the file with the new name using saveas ( , savecopyas=true), open this file and close the original one. An external rule is one that will be saved in a separate file (something like an ifeature or cc) and can be activated in any file and project. once you create a rule, go to the rules panel, right click and select run rule. After checking in into vault and deleting local files in workspace and re opening the assembly file from vault assy.4 is searching for assy.2 which is not present in assy.4.

It automatically detects the new filename (either based on the parent assembly's name or replaced part's name), replaces the component, and then opens the new component. Inventor tries to save the setting back to the file in order to persist the precision. there has been discussion on moving precision control to measure command level or application level. When closing a subassembly while top level is open in inventor, there is no option to close without saving. attempting to close the file results in the "save copy as" dialog box opening. Is there a way to do a "save copy as" and have that part open automatically? because if you modify your part and then do a "save copy as (sca)" the modifications are saved on the current copy as well as the new.
