I Hate Webp I Hate Webp I Hate Webp Every File I Download Is In Webp I've seen a lot of hate on twitter and imgur (like this) about webp—why's everyone hating on webp? answer: the webp file format was developed by google as a high quality general purpose image format. Everyone hates webp for a different reason. i hate it because it can only do 4:2:0 chroma, except in lossless mode. lossless webp is better than png, but i will take the peace of mind of knowing png is always lossless over having a webp and not knowing what was done to it.

I Hate Webp I Hate Webp I Hate Webp R Tumblr If you’ve tried to save any images off the web, you might have noticed an unfamiliar image format called webp. this image file format is meant to be a replacement for other formats like jpeg, png, and gif files, but it hasn’t yet become a widespread option. I’ve always hated the “webp” name, just a horribly goofy filename. confusing and difficult to say and people think you’re talking about a website or something when you say it. Lots of comments in the hackernews thread were along the lines of, "i didn't think x supported webp but it turns out it does now." that's a marketing problem, not a format problem. If you load a webp image in a browser that doesn’t support the format, then another file type will be loaded instead. from here, you can save the image like you normally would as a jpg or png file.

If you load a webp image in a browser that doesn’t support the format, then another file type will be loaded instead. from here, you can save the image like you normally would as a jpg or png file. Webp was created to improve web visitors' user experience by giving them a faster loading page without losing too much image quality. and is up to individual site owners whether they want to use webp or another picture format. Most image and video containers have compatibility issues and i find it annoying when i have random jiff, png large, webp, ai, etc. files that the majority of non web applications struggle with. Webp is the goddamn worst. why do so many people hate webp? it's great (except as an animation) and pretty much every browser supports it now, with png fallbacks being available for ones that don't. It sucks. grab something from the web in webp and it won't open in most image editors and can't be used directly for a lot of other purposes. this is exactly what i was thinking. i'll download one of these stupid files and then find out i can't upload it because of the format.
