Rust Gamedev Wg рџ ђрџћ Rust Gamedev Twitter If you're making your own engine from scratch, i'd say rust is the better pick. if you're using an existing engine, c (or c# for unity, or python for ren.py) is far better, since there's nothing comparable for rust. Discover why game studios are switching from c to rust for engine development in 2025, with real performance comparisons and adoption case studies. Rust vs. c in 2025: which language dominates performance, safety, and scalability? explore the showdown shaping the future of software development. Since you ended up here, you probably agree that rust is potentially an ideal language for game development. its emphasis on low level memory safe programming promises a better development process, less debugging time, and better end results.

Since you ended up here, you probably agree that rust is potentially an ideal language for game development. its emphasis on low level memory safe programming promises a better development process, less debugging time, and better end results. I saw there are raylib bindings for rust, which then led me down a rabbithole for the last month to explore the state of game development in rust. here's what i see and where i think we can head from here!. I never wanted to be on the cutting edge of rust 3d development. i'm trying to solve a new problem, using what i though was a more mature ecosystem already being using by game devs. Rust may become preferred in the future for new projects. the games industry is always slower to adopt new languages—so maybe we will see rust, but it will take some time. As a non game dev who uses rust and elixir, rust wouldn't be my first pick for a large gamedev studio for multiple reasons. as for alternatives worth evaluating: crystal, cython (compiled python), or nim could result in increased gamedev productivity over c or c#.
