Virtual desktop is the top choice for high quality quest 3 streaming right now. steam link is garbage because of the foveated encoding it uses. air link is fine for the quest 2 yet isn't updated for the q3 so it can't do 120hz and doesn't have as high a render resolution setting as godlike in vd. I can remote in to my mac mini, but 2 issues: 1) remote to mac mini to read a website on iphone is an awful experience, and 2) i don’t know which uses less bandwidth, puffin or remote desktop. i can remote in with an ipad, making the experience much better, but sticking to reddit’s mobile formatting on an iphone would be preferable. I wrote an application to download the top pictures of reddit' s earthporn subreddit and store them on a server. then i wrote a desktop app for windows that will download all the images that pass a scrutinous test of size and resolution. i made it available on my website for anyone interested. i believe it contains over 10 gigs of high quality images. i set it to rotate on my desktop every 30. So i noticed today that desktop window manager is having a very high gpu usage when i move windows around or just do simple rudimentary tasks with my pc. when i do nothing at all, gpu usage idles between 1 2% (which is already way too high for a rtx 3070) and when i move windows around on my desktop (e.g. windows explorer) it spikes up to 20%.
