Here are my current settings for throttlestop. to benchmark these settings i just did an 10 min cinebench r23 run. here are the results. i have done some tests yesterday but didn't take screenshots sadly. i only run the fps benchmark in csgo and have gotten averages of 137 fps and around 145 150 fps (dont remember specific fps) after 2 runs. Since this is a locked cpu, overclocking isn’t an option, but i'm using throttlestop to try and force the boost clock (3.5ghz) permanently. despite my efforts, i’ve noticed that while playing games like cs2 (10 40fps) or valorant (70 90fps), the cpu throttles down to around 1.5ghz–2.2ghz. Turn on the log file option in throttlestop and go play a game. some dell laptops will drop the turbo power limits as low as 10w which can kill gaming performance. the far right column of the log file will report if there are any pl1 or pl2 power limit throttling issues.

If your system has a skylake or later cpu but it is not enabled by default in the bios, you can enable it by going to the “tpl” button and checking the “speed shift” option in that dialogue box. As you might know, the intel cpu in the m16 can burn a lot of power and gets very hot quickly. there is a way to reduce the extreme heat quite a bit but keep performance almost the same. the main culprit is the turbo boost and the aggressive scaling of the cpu. Reduce the speed shift max value from 41 to 32. this will slow your cpu down so it does not get so hot. it will have less peak speed but this might help it run at a more consistent speed without throttling down to 800 mhz. slow your cpu down as much as necessary to avoid this severe throttling. Clear the speed shift epp box in throttlestop and let windows 10 manage the epp value. the fivr monitoring table shows that windows has set speed shift epp to 84.
