Survey Most Developers Now Prefer Html5 For Cross Platform Development I'm looking at test shots of ilford's hp5 in 7 different film developers: d 76 xtol more. I am planning to start developing some ilord hp5 films soon and deciding on which developer to buy. i am deciding between cinestill df96 (for convenience) vs ifosol 3 vs d 76. but i am open to any suggestions that will give me nice contrasty images.

Survey Most Developers Now Prefer Html5 For Cross Platform Development Here’s the best kept secret for hp5 in hc 110: use ilford’s development times for ilfotec hc. the results are improved in contrast, tonal separation and shadow details. grain is very well behaved. i use dilution b (1 31) and push to 1600 regularly. Check out this in depth look at the different ways you can shoot and develop ilford hp5 plus black and white film with plenty of image examples!. So is hc 110 really the best developer for hp5 (120)? i've heard this combination mentioned almost as much as tri x and d 76 or apx and rodinal. i haven't yet had good luck with hp5 in 120, but i've had better luck with it than it's rival, tri x. As for characteristics with hp5, i'm not qualified to say, as my experience is quite limited. results might have been a bit sharper looking than the hc 110 i currently use, at the expense of a certain richness, but i really haven't explored all the possibilities of either potion.

What's your favoured developer for ilford hp5 plus and why? so i've tried a few developers with ilford hp5 plus film, such as id 11, dd x, rodinal and so far the results i've preferred to date are the atomal 49 ones. I went from developing my hp5 in hc110 dilution e to using xtol 1:1. the main difference was a definite increase in film speed (2 3 stop i would guess) and a tonally better negative that was easier to scan. I'm running low on developer and looking to try a different one. my current developer is perceptol. i've been impressed by its very low grain, but it doesn't seem as sharp as the xtol i was previously using. i would like more contrast in mid tones as well, would i be able to get that from developer? i've always shot box speed. I have gotten good results with hp5 in rodinal, d 76, id 11, hc 110, and xtol, with xtol giving the most speed. more so than other films i have used, hp5 does not tolerate underdevelopment, so some testing might be in order to get the contrast level where you like it for your chosen speed.
