Cannot Edit Virtual Machine Settings After Upgrading Virtual Hardware

Cannot Edit Virtual Machine Settings After Upgrading Virtual Hardware Tested on a few different vms (windows and linux), after installing 17.0 upgraded the vm hardware compatibility to 17.x which set virtualhw.version = "20" that is when started getting the unrecoverable error message. I've upgraded all my 16 hosts to esxi 8.0u2 a couple of weeks ago. since then, over a couple of dozens of vm's are not displaying the virtual hardware under "edit settings". the display is blank. the vms have to be shut down or log onto the esxi host and edit the settings there to view the hardware. i have 16 hosts and all are affected.
