For classical music i find the original london decca cd releases of the brahms symphonies by solti and the chicago symphony to have perhaps the best sound quality of orchestral symphonic music i have heard on standard cd.

Both icky thump and stadium arcadium (rhcp) vinyls are much better sounding than their cd counterparts, but that's where my hoffman experience ends. i'd also like to get some recommendations for earlier work by hoffman.
