If the new tank is the same $ as the used, i would go with new any day. the clear silicone is a definite plus. i have a marineland tank (i haven't had it very long so i can't say if it's better or not) and the black silicone is a bit of a drawback. i got it in sale at petsmart so i didn't pay attention to the seams. their silicone work is to be desired as well as it is quite sloppy. i wish i.

Do petsmart fish really die as easily as they say? so far i've never had any fish from petsmart that were in that bad of conditions, never a fish that died fast in good conditions. My wife and i both like tortoises and today we bought the two tortoises from our local petsmart. the person working there is not sure about their age and gender, but told us they are very healthy and they are young tortoises. we bought two big enclosures for them, as they were housed together. Is buying fish from petsmart a good idea or not, i don't really have a lfs within an hour of me so i would like to know if the fish are fine, especially with the policy. Petsmart does not order its own fish. they are ordered for us based on what our last fish count was. we have no idea what we will be getting in until we open those boxes. that is one of the reasons why i love fish receiving day. it’s like christmas. also, do not blame the store employees for not knowing everything. nobody is trained in fish care.
